Published on May 17, 2020, hundreds of people have been displaced in Homa Bay county due to heavy rains that have wreaked havoc in various parts of the region.

Many families have been forced out of their homes and are now seeking shelter in temporary structures, schools, and relatives' homes. The situation has left them vulnerable to contracting various diseases, including the novel coronavirus, due to crowding and lack of adequate clothing.

According to a victim, Mzee Charles Obang'a, who spoke to KDRTV, their lives are in danger, and they are appealing to the county government to rescue them from this disaster. They have yet to receive any assistance from any government.

The most affected areas include several beaches along Lake Victoria, including Mitimbili, Kobiero, Oyawore, Awana, and Rawi.
