May 17, 2020, marked a significant moment in the global fight against Covid-19, with Mental Health Awareness Month kicking off amidst the pandemic's devastating effects. A report by Gucora Andu, a consultancy focused on people, sheds light on the emotional toll of Covid-19 on Kenyans.

According to the report, the five main causes of anxiety experienced by Kenyans during the pandemic are job/income loss, often accompanied by uncertainty about the future; the risk of contracting the virus; news and publications about COVID-19; and social distancing/quarantine measures.

While many Kenyans are coping with anxiety through various means, such as watching movies or series, prayer, cooking, and baking, the report suggests that fewer people are seeking professional assistance or learning new skills to manage their mental health.
