On May 17, 2020, Kenya's Ministry of Health reported 57 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 887.
This is the highest number recorded in a day since the first coronavirus case was reported in the country on March 13, 2020.
Of the new cases, 34 were male and 23 were female, with the youngest being two years old and the oldest 61 years old.
The Ministry of Health tested 2,198 samples in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of samples tested to 43,712 since March.
Twelve more people were discharged from hospital, bringing the total number of recoveries to 313, with no deaths recorded in the last 24 hours.
The Ministry of Health urged Kenyans to continue adhering to measures to control the spread of the virus, including frequent handwashing, social distancing, wearing face masks in public, and maintaining high hygiene standards.
