On May 17, 2020, a campaign to drive out three elephants from human settlements in Kajiado County was underway. The elephants had strayed from a community sanctuary in Mosiro.
Residents in Tuala, Rongai, and Kitengela areas reported sightings of the elephants, prompting the Kenya Wildlife Service to take action.
According to Ngugi Gecaga, the KWS Corporate Communications Officer, a response team on the ground was joined by another team using a helicopter to drive the elephants back to their sanctuary.
Gecaga appealed to the public to report any further sightings of the elephants by calling the toll-free number 0800597000.
