On May 17, 2020, a gruesome murder took place in Nyamira North Sub County, where a 22-year-old man hacked his 55-year-old father to death in their tea plantation farm.

The victim, Isaac Mogaka Manyuru, was killed by his son George Nyandika, who had previously been wrangling with him over land and property ownership.

According to Egetonto Sub Location assistant chief, Jones Kea, the incident occurred after a brief quarrel in the tea farm, where neighbours said the disagreement was over land and property ownership.

Mr. Kea confirmed that the residents of the area were shocked when George set upon his father with a panga, leaving him with deep cuts on his head, neck, and right hand.

The police are currently pursuing George, who had already escaped, and have recovered the panga used in the heinous act.

The OCS promised to hunt for the murderer and appealed to the public to volunteer information on his whereabouts, promising confidentiality.

Manyuru's remains were taken to Nyamira Teaching and Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination.
