On Sunday, Chinese Ambassador to Israel Du Wei was found dead at his residence on the outskirts of Tel Aviv, according to police. The 57-year-old envoy had arrived in Israel in mid-February and was found dead in his Herzliya home, as confirmed by spokesman Micky Rosenfeld to AFP.

Initial reports suggested that staff had found Du dead in his bed, with no signs of violence. A first aid service quoted by Haaretz Daily stated that the cause of death appeared to be a cardiac incident.

Notably, Du's wife and son were not present in Israel at the time of his death. Du had previously served as ambassador to Ukraine, as per his biography on the embassy's website.
