On May 16, 2020, Tecra Wangari Muigai, the daughter of Keroche Breweries CEO Tabitha Karanja and Chairman Joseph Karanja, was laid to rest in her parents' home in Karai Naivasha.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui were among those who condoled with the family during the burial.

Speaking during the burial, Raila likened the loss of Tecra to that of his son Fidel Odinga, who passed away five years ago.

"It's very painful for a parent to lose a child, and I take this opportunity to condole with the family during this very painful and difficult time," Raila said.

Despite the somber mood, Raila managed to inject some humor, saying that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) had not stopped and would continue once the COVID-19 crisis was over.

Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui also promised the county's support towards Keroche Breweries, terming the investment as the pride of area residents.

"We shall stand with the Karanjas at this hard time when all forces are unfairly targeting them for ulterior motives," Kinyanjui said.
