President Uhuru Kenyatta's fashion sense has been making headlines in recent months, with his bold and colorful kitenge shirts becoming a staple in Kenyan fashion.
But what's behind this sudden interest in traditional Kenyan textiles? The answer lies with Rivatex East Africa Limited, a textile factory based in Eldoret, which has been supplying the President with his favorite shirts.
According to the company, they are grateful for the President's support, which has helped to boost their sales and put their fabrics in the spotlight.
“Hope is inspired by what and how we dress. President Uhuru Kenyatta is our number one supporter of our fabrics,” the company tweeted in March 2020, after the President started wearing their shirts.
Since then, Uhuru has been spotted wearing a different kitenge shirt for every public appearance, making them a staple in Kenyan fashion.
With his love for colorful and memorable prints, Uhuru has single-handedly made it cool to wear kitenge shirts to work, inspiring many Kenyans to follow in his footsteps.
