Published on May 17, 2020, Lawrence Cherono, the Boston Marathon champion, has been training alone in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, missing the camaraderie of group runs.

Cherono, who also won the Chicago Marathon, has been training at home for the last two months after the Boston Marathon organizers cancelled the April race.

He confessed that training alone is tough and that he misses the extra push he gets from training with teammates.

Cherono was speaking after visiting the Neema Children's Home in Eldoret, where he donated foodstuff to over 50 children to help them cope with the coronavirus.

He said, 'I was in good shape and my target was to defend my title, but a whole season has gone to waste due to the coronavirus.'

Cherono is known for his strong finishing kick, which earned him famous wins in Boston and Chicago. He terms it as 'running smart.'

He will start his build-up training next month as he looks forward to defend his title in the rearranged Boston Marathon in September.
