Keroche Heiress Tecra Wangari Muigai Laid to Rest in Private Ceremony

On May 17, 2020, Tecra Wangari Muigai, the heiress to Keroche Breweries, was laid to rest in a private ceremony at her family's home in Naivasha. The ceremony, dubbed the 'Celebration of a Star,' was attended by notable figures from Kenya's business and political circles.

Among those in attendance were ODM leader Raila Odinga, his wife Ida, and brother Oburu Oginga. Siaya Senator James Orengo, Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui, Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang'ula, and Vihiga Senator George Khaniri also paid their last respects. Senator Gideon Moi and his wife Zahra sent their condolences to the family.

Chief guest Raila Odinga delivered a eulogy, referencing the pain of losing a child, in reference to the death of his son Fidel Odinga in 2015. He also spoke of the courage shown by Tecra's family in business, saying, "We celebrate Tecra and her family for being among the few Kenyans brave enough to walk the journey of industry."

Tecra's eulogy was read by her brother, James Karanja, while former Maendeleo Ya Wanawake chair Zipporah Kittony spoke on behalf of friends to Tecra's parents. Dr. Dan Gikonyo spoke on behalf of Tecra's father. Arnelise, Tecra's sister, delivered a heartfelt tribute, describing the strong bond they shared and which could not be broken even though Tecra was physically gone.
