On May 16, 2020, Kenya's government announced the closure of its borders with Somalia and Tanzania for 30 days in a bid to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.

The decision was made in a move to protect Kenyan citizens from the spread of the virus, which has been reported in both countries.

Kenya's borders with Somalia and Tanzania have been closed for 30 days, effective immediately.
