Published on May 16, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta has ordered a 30-day cessation of movement of persons and passenger vehicles into and out of Kenya through her borders with Tanzania and Somalia.
Only cargo trucks will be allowed into and out of the country during this period, but their drivers must undergo mandatory testing for COVID-19 and test negative to be allowed in.
The nationwide curfew, which was initially set to end on May 17, has been extended by 21 days until June 6.
Similarly, the cessation of movement into and out of Nairobi, Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, and Mandera counties has also been extended until June 6.
Kenya confirmed 49 new coronavirus cases, raising the total number of infections in the country to 830.
