Kenyan politicians are in mourning following the sudden death of Tony Waswa Wetangula, brother to Ford Kenya Party leader Moses Wetangula and Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi.
According to reports, Tony Waswa Wetangula had been admitted to the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi for an extended period before his passing on the morning of Friday, May 15, 2020.
As an aide to Wanyonyi, who has been a member of the National Assembly since 2013, Tony Waswa Wetangula was well-known in political circles.
Condolences have poured in from various quarters, including the Orange Democratic Movement, with leaders expressing their sympathies to the family.
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was among those who condoled with the family, saying,
“My condolences go out to Senator Wetangula and Tim Wanyonyi following the passing of their brother Tony Waswa. May the Lord grant their entire family comfort at this trying moment and may Tony rest in eternal peace,”
Other leaders who condoled with the family include James Orengo and Esther M Passaris, who expressed their condolences on social media.
Limu, a Twitter user, also condoled with the family, saying,
“R.I.P Tony Waswa Wetangula. It was so sudden and heartbreaking!! My Heartfelt condolences to your wife Tina, your brothers, Senator Wetangula (Bungoma),MP Tim Wanyonyi (Westlands) and all other family members and friends. We will miss you bro. We loved you!”
