On May 15, 2020, Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain touched down in Turin, Italy, marking the final return of a Juventus player to the country amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
After a stopover in Las Palmas, Higuain arrived in Turin by private jet and was driven away by a waiting car, beginning a two-week quarantine period, as reported by media outlets.
His return comes after a three-week absence from Italy, during which he was in Argentina with his sick mother. Higuain had tested negative for the coronavirus, despite three of his teammates testing positive.
He joins teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, who returned to Turin from Portugal on May 4, and has been in quarantine since. French midfielder Adrien Rabiot had also returned to Italy on Wednesday, making Higuain the last player to do so.
With the resumption of individual training in Italy on May 4, the stage is set for the return of top-flight group training sessions next Monday, with the Serie A competition slated to restart on June 13.
At the time of the championship's suspension on March 9, Juventus were leading Serie A by a single point, ahead of Lazio.
