On May 13, 2020, Bongo Flava actress Kayitesy Abdul, alias Tessy Chocolate, was left reeling after her business was raided and ransacked by unknown individuals.
According to a video circulating on social media, the attackers destroyed property of unknown value at Tessy's high-end saloon, leaving her business in shambles.
Tessy, who is the baby mama to former Yamoto band member Aslay, denied claims that the destruction was caused by Aslay's wife, who was allegedly furious over her husband's alleged affair with Tessy.
Speaking to Millard Ayo, Tessy explained that the attackers had no intention of stealing anything, but rather sought to destroy her fast-growing business.
She noted that the business is located in a prime, secure spot, but a guard who usually stands watch over the premises had traveled days prior to the incident, leaving the business vulnerable to attack.
Tessy has reported the matter to the police, who have taken up investigations and will provide updates on any developments at a later date.
The attack comes weeks after Tessy was forced to deny claims that she sent goons to assault her ex's current girlfriend.
She had previously stated in an interview with Bongo 5 that she had moved on and bore no ill will against Aslay or his lover, and was only concerned about her child.
When asked about the allegations, Tessy responded, 'Sijawaza haya mambo kabisa…ndio kwanza nimesikia kwako kabisa,' which translates to 'I am not responsible for these things…this is the first time I have heard of it.'
She continued, 'Yule dada ananijua, Aslay ananijua. Wananijua vizuri,' which means 'They know me better. I am not capable of doing such a thing.'
