On Friday, the government launched targeted mass testing for the coronavirus disease in Eastleigh Section 3 and Dandora phase 4, but the exercise was characterized by a low turnout.

According to reports, many residents were unwilling to participate in the testing, which has been attributed to poor mobilization and lack of sensitization.

Eastleigh Senior Chief Anthony Njoka attributed the low turnout to unexplained fear among the residents, with only 227 people tested out of a target of 1000.

At Dandora phase 4, the situation was not different, with only a few people tested against a target of 200.

Mass testing is one of the measures the government is undertaking to flatten the curve of infections, but the unwillingness of citizens to turn up for testing remains a significant challenge.
