On February 27, 2020, Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel steered through a corner during the Formula One pre-season testing session at the Barcelona Catalunya racetrack in Montmelo, Spain.

Ferrari is considering a move into the North American IndyCar series, its Formula One team principal Mattia Binotto revealed on Thursday. The decision comes as the team faces challenges due to the new budget cap of $145 million for teams from 2021.

Binotto stated that the budget cap, initially set at $175 million, would lead to staff being made redundant. To mitigate this, Ferrari is exploring alternative programs, including IndyCar and endurance racing.

"Ferrari feels a lot of social responsibility towards its employees and we want to be sure that for each of them there will be a workspace in the future," Binotto told Sky Sports Italia.

Binotto also confirmed that the team is looking at IndyCar, which is a very different category from Formula One. He added that the team would try to make the best choice among the available options.
