Kenya's COVID-19 Cases Rise to 781, Death Toll Hits 45

Kenya's COVID-19 cases have risen to 781, with 23 new cases confirmed, and the death toll has increased to 45, according to the Ministry of Health.

On May 15, 2020, the Ministry of Health announced that 3 more patients had succumbed to the virus, raising the death toll to 45.

Dr. Rashid Aman, the Chief Administrative Secretary at the Ministry of Health, stated that the positive cases reported were identified from 2,100 samples tested since Thursday.

The new cases were reported from various counties, including Nairobi, Mombasa, Kajiado, Kiambu, and Wajir, with 11 cases from Nairobi, 5 from Mombasa, 3 from Kajiado, and 2 each from Kiambu and Wajir.

According to Dr. Aman, the new infections include 5 females and 18 males, with ages ranging from 24 years to 85 years.

The nationwide night curfew, which was extended for a further 21 days on April 25, is set to expire on May 16, and Kenyans will know on Saturday if it will be extended or not.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to make a statement on Saturday regarding the measures put in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
