Published on May 15, 2020, World Rugby announced the postponement of all rugby Test matches scheduled for July due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The decision was made in light of ongoing quarantine and travel restrictions, which have severely impacted the sport.

"Extended travel and quarantine restrictions that apply to numerous countries, and concerns over adequate player preparation time, mean that any sort of cross-border international rugby competition cannot be hosted in July," World Rugby stated.

The postponement affects several key matches, including Ireland's visit to Australia, New Zealand's hosting of Wales and Scotland, and England's trip to Japan.

World Rugby emphasized that all decision-making will be contingent on national government travel, quarantine, and health advice, as well as player welfare and hosting considerations.
