Published on May 15, 2020, the Nakuru County Assembly received a Fiscal Strategy paper outlining the county's budget for the 2020/2021 financial year.
The paper estimated the county's budget at Sh14.5 billion, with Sh10.1 billion allocated for recurrent expenditure and Sh4.4 billion for development.
According to Joel Karuri, the County Assembly Budget Committee chair, the paper has been committed to various House committees for review.
"After reviewing the paper, we shall subject the budget to public participation after which it shall be returned to the Assembly for approval. We are determined to have the budget passed within the constitutional timelines," Mr Karuri said.
Notably, the budget has dropped by Sh6.8 billion from the current financial year's budget of Sh21.3 billion.
