On 2nd May 2020, Tecra Muigai tragically died after falling down a staircase in a Lamu cottage. The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear, with questions raised about whether it was an accident or a push.
According to a postmortem report, Tecra suffered injuries on the left side of her head, including a cut, a concussion, and internal bleeding. These injuries were likely caused by the bump to the head she sustained during the fall.
Tecra's boyfriend, Omar Lali, is currently in custody.
As the family mourned Tecra's passing, they also acknowledged her relationship with Ben Pol, who is married to Tecra's sister, Anerlisa Muigai. Ben Pol was recognized as Tecra's brother-in-law in the eulogy.
Published on 15th May 2020, the eulogy described Tecra as a 'dynamic, creative and empathetic leader who touched many lives.' It also highlighted her passion for Kenya and its people, as well as her advocacy for equal opportunities for everyone.
"She was a sister-in-law to Ben Pol," read part of the eulogy.
The eulogy continued, "It is with deep and profound sorrow that we accept the tragic and untimely death of Tecra Wangari Muigai that occurred on 2 May 2020, at the Nairobi Hospital."
