It's been a month since the COVID-19 pandemic hit Kenya, and for many of us, life has changed dramatically. But for one man, the lockdown has brought more than just isolation – it's also brought a financial nightmare courtesy of his girlfriend, Lekki Wak.
According to the man, who wishes to remain anonymous, Lekki stole his work laptop and withdrew Sh40,000 from his credit card before leaving him high and dry.
As a bachelor living alone in his two-bedroom flat in Bedlam Apartments, the man had never really had to worry about invasion of privacy. However, Lekki's alleged actions have left him reeling.
It all started when Lekki discovered the man's diary, which contained all his passwords. The next day, she allegedly made her move, withdrawing the man's money and leaving him with just Sh15,000.
The man, who earns Sh150,000 per month, was left with a whopping 30% pay cut, courtesy of his employer's decision to reduce salaries due to the pandemic. With his rent in Bedlam Apartments costing Sh40,000, the man was left wondering how he would make ends meet.
As he struggled to come to terms with his new financial reality, the man couldn't help but feel a sense of betrayal. 'I wanted to weep!' he exclaimed, recalling the moment he discovered his laptop was missing and his account had been drained.
With the man's rent now in jeopardy, he's left wondering what the future holds. Will he be able to convince his landlord to give him a break, or will he be forced to face the consequences of Lekki's alleged actions?
