On May 9, 2020, Tecra Muigai, the lastborn daughter of Keroche billionaire owners Joseph and Tabitha Karanja, tragically passed away at a Nairobi Hospital. An autopsy later revealed that her death was caused by injuries consistent with a staircase fall.

According to her boyfriend Omar Lali, Tecra had fallen off the stairs in a holiday house they were staying in. The autopsy, carried out at the Lee Funeral Home on Tuesday, confirmed that the fall caused a fracture in the skull with a large blood clot on the brain.

Her head injuries were severe enough to cause death, with no other broken bones or injuries found in the rest of her body. This finding is a reprieve for Omar Lali, who was still in police custody over the death.

Chief Government Pathologist Johansen Oduro stated that the autopsy results are consistent with Omar Lali's claims. The Keroche family is being represented by lawyer James Orengo in the investigations, which are ongoing.
