On May 12, 2020, the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) made the difficult decision to end the 2019-2020 Elite One league season due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The decision was reached after consulting with stakeholders and receiving advice from the Health ministry, with the country having recorded 2,954 cases of the virus at the time.

As a result, the current table standing will be considered as final, with PWD of Bamenda declared champions with 47 points by round 28, one ahead of second-placed Coton Sports.

According to PWD of Bamenda President Pascal Abunde, "This is good news. We have been expecting this (championship) title for 58 years today."
