On 14th May 2020, Kenya Power notified shareholders that preference dividends would be paid out.
Shareholders registered in the company's books by 2nd June 2020 will receive the 4% and 7% cumulative preference shares dividends on 30th June 2020.
The dividend payment will be subject to Withholding tax.
Preference shareholders enjoy a fixed dividend payment, which takes priority over ordinary shareholders.
These shares have a fixed-rate dividend paid annually or semi-annually, and any unpaid dividend accrues until it is paid out.
Preferred shareholders are paid before owners of common (ordinary) stock in case of liquidation.
