How to Cope with Negative Energy During the Pandemic ¶
As the world grapples with the COVID-19 pandemic, many people are feeling overwhelmed and struggling to cope with the negative energy that comes with it.
Published on May 14, 2020, life coach Susan Auma shares her insights on how to manage this negative energy and stay positive during these challenging times.
According to Auma, one of the key reasons people are feeling this way is due to the loss and uncertainty that comes with the pandemic. 'The student is worried about completing school, the parent is worried about their job security, the landlord is worried about his income and loans and all of us are wondering when life will go back to normal,' she says.
Auma emphasizes the importance of dealing with our emotions during this time, noting that 'dealing with our emotions at this time reduces stress and anxiety which allows us to remain healthy.' She also suggests that people should focus on things they can control, such as their hygiene and shopping habits, and avoid non-essential gatherings.
Another key tip Auma shares is the importance of staying in touch with loved ones. 'Human beings are social animals hardwired to connect,' she says. 'This is why this season can easily cause depression. Keep in touch with your loved ones via phone calls, text messaging, or even better, video calls.'
Auma also stresses the importance of taking care of one's body and spirit. 'Maintain a routine as best as you can,' she advises. 'This can entail waking up early, prayer, exercise, breaks, meals, or writing a gratitude list.'
Finally, Auma encourages people to be kind to themselves and seek professional help if needed. 'Worrying is normal, but it is good to recognize when it is out of control,' she says. 'Do not be afraid to seek professional help if you feel more anxious or depressed than the next person.'
By following these tips, people can learn to cope with the negative energy of the pandemic and stay positive during these challenging times.
