UjuziKilimo, a leading agricultural technology solutions provider, has secured funding to support local small-scale farmers with technical assistance worth Ksh 18 million.
According to a partnership agreement confirmed on May 14, 2020, UjuziKilimo has received support from Wadson Ventures, an Africa-focused early-stage venture capital house.
Speaking on the partnership, UjuziKilimo Chief Executive Officer Brian Bosire emphasized the need for data-driven decisions in food production to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and locust invasion.
"At UjuziKilimo, we are delivering a platform that advances data-driven decisions for the world's smallholder farmers by collecting, organizing and making sense of agricultural data," Bosire said.
The partnership will provide free access to digital tools to enable farmer support organizations to sustain smallholder farmer operations while fighting the pandemic and making food production systems resilient during and post the COVID-19.
Through the partnership, UjuziKilimo will provide intelligent agronomy information to eligible smallholder farmers affiliated to selected co-operative societies, national and county government agencies.
