Kenya's Sports Dispute Tribunal has been at the center of a heated dispute over the cancellation of the 2019/2020 Kenyan Premier League season.

On 14th May 2020, the tribunal's Chairman John Ohaga issued an order temporarily suspending a declaration by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) cancelling the season.

The FKF had announced the annulment of the top-tier on 30th April 2020, declaring Gor Mahia champions and relegating Chemilil Sugar and Sony Sugar.

Chemelil Sugar Football Club and the Kenyan Premier League have filed a petition against the FKF, accusing its President Nick Mwendwa and Chief Executive Officer Barry Otieno of unlawfully and procedurally cancelling the season and interfering with the mandate of the KPL.

The case is set to be heard on 26th May 2020, with Ohaga directing the parties to appear before the tribunal for further directions.
