Published on May 14, 2020, the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) has been informally polling players to determine their willingness to resume the season that was halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to reports, the players' union has been asking players to respond to a simple 'yes or no' question about whether the season should resume.

Regional union representatives are reportedly handling the polling, with questions posed by each representative differing slightly.

One player, who spoke to The Los Angeles Times, estimated that around 70% of players want to finish the season, which was suspended on March 11.

"But 30 per cent is a big number," the player said. "And what do you say to somebody who says, 'You know what, I just don't feel safe?' It's hard to argue that. But there are reasons to argue that because I know the NBA would be one of the safest places to be at. That thing would be tight, clean, protocol, all that."

The NBPA has denied any involvement in a formal poll of its players, stating that it was "not engaging in and has not authorised any formal poll of its players."

Despite this, NBPA executive director Michele Roberts, executive committee members, including president Chris Paul, and other players held a conference call with league commissioner Adam Silver to discuss various topics, including the potential resumption of the season.
