Dishonest Donors Exploit Akothee's Charity Work

Published on May 14, 2020, singer Akothee has spoken out about the challenges she faces running her foundation, citing dishonest donors who take advantage of her charity work.

According to Akothee, some donors promise huge contributions but never follow through, leaving her feeling frustrated and exhausted. She has also experienced stalking and harassment from individuals who claim to want to contribute to her foundation.

"The foundation has made the brand very vulnerable, and people taking advantage of the fact that it's Akothee running behind it," Akothee said in an Instagram post. "Some cooperates have invited me to their offices, promised huge contributions and after getting direct contacts with me, photos, that's the end when I follow up on what they promised, it's water under the bridge, and I look like a bother God is seeing you."

Akothee has also encountered fans who demand to talk to her before making a donation, and some individuals who claim to have made large contributions but never follow through. She has even had to deal with stalking and harassment from individuals who claim to want to contribute to her foundation.

"I have people stalking me in the name of they want to contribute to the foundation, even coming to my door step," Akothee said. "One Sam came almost 4 times saying he has 50,000 pounds. He follows my life on Instagram stories and cook his package, he was given the bank details and office address."

Akothee's passion for charity is what keeps her going, despite the challenges she faces. "Above all, I would like to tell you that, it looks easy on cameras, but at times I even go to bed without food for being exhausted, I don't want anyone to sympathise with me, for me charity is a calling, no one has forced me into it, I have my fulfilment when I create change, and make someone smile," she said.
