COVID-19 Update: 30 Kenyans Dead, 4 in ICU Abroad

As of May 14, 2020, the global pandemic has claimed the lives of 293,033 people and infected 4,354,545 others, with 1,609,611 recoveries.

Locally, Kenya has recorded 737 COVID-19 cases, with 22 new cases reported on Wednesday, May 13, 2020. The new cases were from 1,516 samples tested since Tuesday, with 21 being Kenyans and one a Ugandan.

Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Raychelle Omamo revealed that 30 Kenyans have died from COVID-19 abroad, with 4 in critical condition in Intensive Care Units. The deceased are from various countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, and France.

Omamo emphasized that the information provided is based on voluntary registration and may not reflect the actual situation on the ground. She assured that the government is committed to ensuring that Kenyans who fall sick abroad have access to medical services.

Meanwhile, 78 Kenyans have recovered from the virus, with 88 cases still active. The Ministry of Health has tested 35,432 samples, with 17 males and 5 females among the new cases.
