On the eve of Tottenham's resumed training, midfielder Dele Alli narrowly escaped serious injury after being attacked by knife-carrying burglars who broke into his London home on May 13, 2020.
According to reports, the 24-year-old England playmaker was in isolation at his house with his brother, their partners, and a close friend ahead of the team's resumption of training.
Two men broke into the property after midnight, sparking an altercation with Alli, during which they made off with jewellery.
Fortunately, Alli and the other occupants in the house were shaken but otherwise unharmed.
"Thank you for all the messages. Horrible experience but we're all okay now. Appreciate the support," Alli tweeted.
Police were called to the scene at approximately 00:35hrs on May 13, 2020, and are currently investigating the incident.
"Two males gained entry to the property and stole items of jewellery, including watches, before fleeing. One male occupant of the property, aged in his 20s, suffered a minor facial injury after being assaulted," a police spokesperson stated.
No arrests have yet been made, and Alli is due to start training with Spurs next week ahead of the Premier League's intended resumption next month.
