Actress Winnie Rubi, known as Awiti, is not one to tolerate body shaming on social media. In a recent incident, she faced trolls who made derogatory comments about her appearance.
One of her followers, Sharon, wrote, 'Unakaa vibaya gai!!!!' (You look terrible!).
Awiti clapped back with a witty response, saying, 'I know I look better than you.'
Another follower, Quarser, also body-shamed Awiti, commenting, 'Stretch marks kwa mkono.' (Stretch marks on your hands.)
However, Awiti's response forced Quarser to delete the comment, saying, 'Proves I gave life…Manze ka unangoja nikonde hii unless Yesu arudi.' (It proves I gave life…Wait until I'm gone unless Jesus returns.)
Awiti went on to share a photo of herself, accompanied by a post that read, 'This world is so funny. If this is someone who has the guts to call me ugly then sina langu. @sharon weh! Atleast ata ungekuwa unakaa azziad ningekubali.' (This world is so funny. If this is someone who has the guts to call me ugly then I don't care. @sharon, at least you could have been honest and said I look good.)
Awiti has made it clear that she will not be a victim of cyberbullying. In a statement, she said, 'Why do people always expect public figures not to be rude or respond to rude comments?? Are there hearts made of stones?? Are they not human too?? Sometimes if u see something u don’t like why not just scroll unto the next post or just unfollow… I refuse to be a victim of cyber bullying.'
Body shaming has been a growing trend on social media, with celebrities being the most targeted.
