Published on May 14, 2020, a report by KDRTV News indicated that the Tanga Tanga faction, a Jubilee Party faction, was planning to disrupt government business in the house and hold rallies across Kenya.
The faction aimed to counter President Uhuru Kenyatta's clout in the party and rally support for Deputy President William Ruto in a show of might and numbers.
According to the report, the Tanga Tanga members of parliament were strategizing on the next course of action, sensing the President's action towards them and not relenting on it.
The Deputy President was in a precarious situation, with no option available on his table as his die-hard lieutenants were being pushed out of powerful dockets in the Government and the ruling Jubilee Coalition.
The faction planned to hold rallies across the nation, despite the challenges and the notice of not having a meeting or gathering of more than 10 people at a given place.
The Tanga Tanga faction had vowed to continue with the plans with the blessings of the Deputy President, but he had not publicly declared the support of the Anti-Uhuru rallies.
