On May 14, 2020, a police officer was left with serious head injuries after being assaulted by a man in Nairobi.
According to reports, John Kimwaki Wahu attacked police constable Peter Kamau of Makongeni Police Station with a stone while Kamau was on patrol near World Bank Houses next to Kenya Power Substation along Likoni road.
The officer was injured in the line of duty while enforcing a public order Act directive issued as a control measure to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Wahu was arrested immediately and the officer was rushed to Nairobi Metropolitan Hospital in Buruburu, where he is currently in the Intensive Care Unit.
Inspector Edward Nzaka obtained orders to detain Wahu for four days pending investigations, citing the need to record witness statements.
