On March 17, Mishi Kitsao delivered quadruplets at her Kaloleni home and was rushed to Mariakani Sub-County Hospital. The babies were found to be underweight and were immediately referred to the Kilifi County Hospital.
After a month-long stay in the High Dependency Unit (HDU), the babies were finally discharged. However, their mother, Mishi, was unable to take them home due to the family's lack of a decent shelter.
A nurse in charge of the HDU, Mwanavua Boga, discovered that Mishi's house had been swept away by floods in December last year. The nurse accompanied Mishi, her husband Kombe Kazungu, and their babies to their new home, which was gifted by Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi.
“We will do everything possible to ensure the mother and the babies are well taken care of, especially at this time when the country is battling the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Mwanavua.
Kombe, now a father of seven, expressed his gratitude to the governor, saying the family will at least have a roof over their heads during this rainy season. He plans to use the money he received from Kingi to start a business to sustain his family.
