On May 13, 2020, former Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli forward Ezequiel Lavezzi found himself in a distressing situation, as he made a complaint to cybercrime prosecutors in Argentina.
Lavezzi, a 35-year-old former Argentina international, claimed to have received threatening messages demanding $5,000 for each intimate image of him that was to be published online.
According to Argentine judicial sources, Lavezzi's lawyers made the complaint, stating that the content of the videos is likely to be genuine.
With Argentina under coronavirus lockdown, Lavezzi was staying on the Caribbean island of Saint Barthelemy, a French overseas territory, alongside his partner, Brazilian model and actress Natalia Borges, who also received threats on her social media accounts.
The Argentine press has dubbed the affair a 'pornoextortion', highlighting the severity of the situation.
