Italian football clubs have been allowed to resume individual training since May 4, but this has been optional for players. Adrien Rabiot, a 25-year-old midfielder for Juventus, has been at his home on the French Riviera for two months due to the coronavirus confinement.

On Instagram, Rabiot posted a photo of himself with a sad expression, accompanied by two laughing emojis and the caption "When you realise it's your last day on... STRIKE!". He later posted a drawing of a small vial with the warning "Newspapers-TV-Press, do not swallow".

La Stampa had claimed that Rabiot was on a personal strike in his Cote d'Azur villa in protest at the club's decision to cut wages. However, Rabiot is set to return to Turin on Wednesday, alongside other foreign Serie A players who have already returned to Italy, including Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo and AC Milan's Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Argentina striker Gonzalo Higuain is also yet to return to northern Italy, joining Rabiot at his home on the French Riviera.
