On May 13, 2020, Senator Christine Zawadi, an expelled Jubilee Party member, sent a remorseful letter to President Uhuru Kenyatta through Senate Chief Whip Senator Irungu Kangata, pleading for mercy and apologizing for missing a State House meeting.

Her letter, a stark contrast to her previous stance, now endorses the party leadership structure and distances herself from Deputy President William Samoei Ruto, in a bid to save her job.

The Senate Chief Whip had issued a show cause letter to six senators, including Zawadi, for missing the State House meeting without explanation or apology. The letter warned that failure to respond would result in automatic expulsion from the party, rendering their parliamentary seats at risk.

While Zawadi's letter has sparked controversy, the fate of the other five senators remains uncertain, as they have yet to respond to the show cause letter.
