Published on May 13, 2020, the Football Association has formally appealed FIFA's ruling on Chelsea's transfer ban, which will be heard by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on June 26.
The FA's decision to appeal comes after they were fined as part of the original ruling, which also saw Chelsea punished for breaches of rules relating to the international transfer and registration of players under the age of 18.
Chelsea was initially handed a transfer ban for two windows and fined 510,000 Swiss francs (£391,000 at the time) in February 2019. However, both punishments were later reduced on appeal, allowing the club to sign players again this January.
The FA was initially fined 510,000 Swiss francs, reduced to 350,000 Swiss francs on appeal, and given six months to address the situation concerning the international transfer and first registration of minors in football.
Responding to the original ruling, the FA stated that they would appeal and continue to work with FIFA and Chelsea in a constructive manner to address the issues raised by the case.
