On May 13, 2020, Loon, a pioneering company in stratospheric internet, announced a new partnership with Vodacom to bring high-speed internet to Mozambique.

This deal marks Loon's second commercial agreement in Africa, with the potential to leverage its existing operations in Kenya.

Loon's innovative approach involves launching balloons into the stratosphere, equipped with radio equipment that enables them to function as floating cellular broadband towers.

By positioning these balloons at high altitudes, Loon can cover a wider area than traditional ground-based cell towers, making it possible to reach remote regions where infrastructure is lacking.
