On May 13, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party took a decisive step against its own members, expelling nominated Senator Millicent Omanga for missing a crucial Parliamentary Group Meeting at State House.
Omanga, a vocal Tanga Tanga Member in the Senate and a key figure in the Public Accounts Committee, is one of four Senators who have been expelled from the Party and are expected to lose their seats.
According to sources, the Jubilee Party accused the five Senators of undermining the party leader, thereby infringing on the party constitution.
Omanga's expulsion is the latest move in a series of attacks targeted at DP William Ruto's allies, following the firing of Kipchumba Murkomen and Susan Kihika as Majority leader and Majority whips from the Senate respectively.
As the axe falls on Omanga and her colleagues, the party is expected to take further action against Tanga Tanga members in parliament, where they hold several lucrative positions.
