Kenya's COVID-19 cases have been steadily increasing, with the latest update on May 13, 2020, revealing a total of 737 infections.
According to Dr. Rashid Aman, a Chief Administrative Secretary at the Ministry of Health, 22 new cases were reported after testing 1,516 samples since Tuesday.
“21 are Kenyans and one is a Ugandan. The country has so far tested 35,432 samples,” Dr. Aman said during the daily COVID-19 briefing.
The new cases were mainly reported in Nairobi County, with 17 males and 5 females affected. The distribution of cases in Nairobi showed that Embakasi had 8 cases, Kamukumji had 4, Kibera produced 2, and Kenyatta National Hospital had 1 case.
Dr. Aman also announced that a Mobile Testing Laboratory will be set up at the Namanga border to curb cross-border infections.
“We must observe the containment measures in order to bring the numbers down,” he emphasized.
