On Tuesday, a dramatic shootout occurred near a Shell petrol station along Kangundo Road in Nairobi, resulting in the deaths of four suspected gangsters.
According to the police, the four suspects were believed to operate from Kayole and Dandora, with one of them reportedly running a taxi service in Kayole.
Confirming the incident, Buruburu OCPD Adamson Bungei stated that the four suspects could be linked to a shooting in Umoja last month, as well as a robbery at an M-Pesa shop in Ruiri Road and a supermarket raid on Katani Road.
‘Our officers pursued the suspects and ordered the assailants to surrender, but instead, they opened fire on police who responded by gunning them down,’ Bungei said.
During the shootout, police recovered two mini-Ceska pistols and 14 rounds of ammunition from the slain suspects. A police officer was also injured and is receiving treatment at the Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital.
