On May 13, 2020, a tragic incident occurred in Eldoret's Action Estate, where a cobbler named Sila was mauled to death by stray dogs.
According to eyewitnesses, Sila was attacked while on his way home, and the dogs left his head behind, which was later used to identify his body.
The residents of Action Estate have been living in fear due to the presence of around 50 to 100 stray dogs in the area, which have also been attacking their livestock.
Speaking to a local journalist, a neighbor described the incident, saying, 'The man who was eaten by the killer dogs was named Sila. He was a cobbler and he was a friend of mine. The incident we just witnessed was not the first one as a woman was also killed 100 metres away from this scene three months ago.'
The residents have vowed to take action against the stray dogs, despite a County government ban on killing them, citing the need to protect human life.
