On May 13, 2020, Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia announced a tough stance against contractors undertaking shoddy jobs in the County.
Speaking during the induction of the recently sworn in Chief Officers, Kimemia emphasized that his administration will not pay a single cent to contractors who fail to meet the required standards.
The Governor attributed the poor condition of some roads in the County to the substandard work done by some contractors, stating that they have no choice but to re-do the work.
However, Kimemia's administration has taken steps to address the issue, with the formation of a County Service Delivery Unit (SDU) that will work closely with residents to monitor and ensure that projects undertaken by the County are of high quality.
As part of efforts to improve service delivery, the County has purchased road construction equipment worth Ksh 500 million, which will be distributed across the five sub-counties.
The equipment is expected to go a long way in addressing the challenges of bad roads in the County.
Additionally, the County has received Ksh 350 million from the National Government to aid in the construction of collapsed bridges as well as rehabilitate some roads.
Speaking during the induction ceremony, Nyandarua County Assembly Majority Leader Wambugu King'ori hailed the move, noting that the assembly has a good working relationship with the Executive.
