On May 13, 2020, Tanzanian musician Diamond Platnumz announced a new initiative to support young people in the country, gifting them brand new cars and settling their monthly bills.
Through his Wasafi FM radio station, Platnumz will be giving away a Toyota Alteza car to a lucky winner every month, as well as paying the water and electricity bills of four families daily.
According to Platnumz, owning a car is a major goal for many young people, as it can provide them with a means of making a living and conducting business more efficiently.
"Many youths in the hood have different dreams. Dreams whose main goal is to be successful and help their families from their poverty bracket. Despite having land being one of the biggest dreams, for most youths, the first goal is to own a car," Platnumz said in an interview.
Platnumz's initiative is part of his ongoing efforts to support young people in Tanzania, and has been praised by fans and well-wishers who are grateful for his generosity.
"His works of charity lately have touched the hearts of many, with fans praying that he lives long enough to support many more generations," a fan commented.
