Kenya's Foreign Ministry Shows Solidarity with Healthcare Workers

On International Nurses' Day, May 12, 2020, Kenya's Ministry of Foreign Affairs demonstrated its appreciation for the country's healthcare workers by donating a consignment of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Ministry of Health.

Principal Secretary Ambassador Kamau Macharia handed over the donation to Health CAS Dr. Rashid Aman at Afya House, highlighting the government's commitment to supporting the healthcare sector during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The donated PPE included 300,000 pairs of protective gloves, 170,000 pairs of medical shoes, 300 medical gowns, and 1,500 pairs of goggles to protect the eyes.

According to Ambassador Macharia, the donation was a gesture of solidarity and support for the nursing profession and the Ministry of Health. He praised the government's early steps in addressing the pandemic, citing determination and commitment.

Additionally, the Kenyan embassy in Beijing received donations from private companies and firms in China, including 6,095 respirators, 500 isolation gowns, 3,000 surgical face masks, 500 surgical protective suits, 30 thermometers, and 85,000 normal face masks.
