On May 12, 2020, the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Kenya reached 715 after 15 new cases were reported.
Of the 15 individuals who tested positive, 14 were Kenyans and one was Rwandese.
The ages of the confirmed cases ranged from one year to 62 years, with ten males and five females affected.
Eight of the confirmed cases have been discharged from hospital, bringing the total number of recoveries to 259 countrywide.
Unfortunately, three Kenyans lost their lives to Covid-19, increasing the total number of fatalities to 36.
Following the rise in Covid-19 cases among truck drivers, the Ministry of Health has dispatched a delegation to the Namanga border to assess measures to prevent cross-border transmission.
On Monday, nine Kenyan truck drivers from Tanzania tested positive at the Namanga border.
Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Rashid Aman, stated, 'Today I have dispatched a high-level delegation from the Ministry led by Dr. Patrick Amoth to Kajiado, the team will also pay a visit to the Namanga border to ascertain the measures we need to put in place to curtail cross border transmission.'
