Published on May 12, 2020, Kenya confirmed 15 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infected persons to 715.
According to Health CAS Dr. Rashid Aman, the new cases include 14 Kenyans and one Rwandese national. The patients are aged between one year and 62 years, with 10 females and five males.
Dr. Aman also announced that three more people have died in Mombasa due to the novel virus, raising the total fatalities in the country to 36.
"We have tested 978 samples out of which 15 have tested positive for coronavirus. Of these, 14 are Kenyans and one is a Rwandese national. 10 are male and five are female," Dr. Aman said.
He added that two individuals from Tanzania, who tested positive at the Isebania border, were referred back to their country.
The 15 new cases were reported in various counties, including Mombasa, Migori, Wajir, Nairobi, Machakos, and Kiambu.
Meanwhile, the total number of recoveries rose to 259 after eight people were discharged from hospital in the last 24 hours.
